Swing (or Salsa) into Spring with MarShere

Lifestyle
September 15, 2022

Spring has arrived, the days are getting longer and it's often the time to think about getting out of that rut we got into over winter and start getting more active and more social.

Perhaps you want to socialise more, meet new people and find a social circle you can be part of or maybe you want to start moving more but the gym isn't your thing. Spring is the perfect time to carve out just a little time for yourself and the benefits are massive. Our adult ballroom dance classes are fantastic for beginners (but more advanced or returning dancers aren't left out either - with classes at a range of levels) You'll develop coordination and flexibility, while raising that heart rate for an effective cardio workout. Whether you want to learn ballroom dancing or salsa, you'll meet new people, discover new social activities and get some exercise at the same time.

Why should you learn to dance?

Balls & Events

As the weather heats up, the number of events in the social calendar increases. There’s something so lovely about donning your best outfit, stepping into a beautiful room and spinning the night away on the dance floor. And if you’re not the type that finds themselves invited to a lot of fancy gala events, not to worry, we have a number of events through the year leading up to our own Aurora awards in late October.

Summer & Spring Holiday Preparation

Learning to dance is also a perfect way to prepare for those summer holidays. Whether you’re in Europe or on an island beach - dancing is the perfect activity to add to your holiday to-do list. Go to a Salsa club in Cuba, dance Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires or try Blues dancing in New Orleans. Most cities in the world have their own unique social dance scene and knowing a little dancing (and having the tools to learn new dances) enables you to get in and experience a place and culture on a whole new level.

Live Music on the weekends at Pubs and RSL's

One of our favourite weekend activities is to grab a group of friends and go and listen to some of the amazing live music being played around Pubs & Clubs around Melbourne each weekend. From great cover bands dishing out hits to originals, to more cultured events like Tango there is something for almost every taste. Being able to dance to that music adds an extra level of fun to the afternoon or evening. Keep it social and laugh off any mistakes you make.

Say goodbye to winter doldrums with a fun new activity to look forward to. Join with a group of friends or come alone and meet some new ones. Just a few hours on the dance floor will benefit your body and your mind, and you'll be proud of yourself for trying a new activity. Try a group class at one of our MarShere Dance Studios located around Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, you will meet new people, find new friends, build your confidence on the dance floor and most importantly have fun. We offer a range of dance styles including Ballroom, New Vogue, Latin, Street Latin, Salsa&Tango, you can even try your first dance lesson for free. You’ve got nothing to lose and plenty to gain!
